A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be able to travel to New York and photograph Kate and Justin’s engagement session! It was absolutely perfect timing, the leaves were all turning beautiful fall colors. After being in coastal NC for almost 10 years (YIKES!), I had forgotten how gorgeous the fall colors can be! We met up at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca and then went up the hill to Kate and Justin’s house where they have a beautiful field with the BEST view, and of course, their dog, Billy.
Kate and I grew up together, we were SUPER close friends in high school, we played volleyball together and managed to survive a camping trip in the Adirondacks ruined by a bear (this is a very long story, complete with a sunken canoe, our only form of transportation, and 9 very scared teenage girls – if you’re interested, I’ll tell you all about it), we seriously almost died. Seriously. There are definitely a lot of hilarious stories I could tell about us from high school, but my wedding season brain isn’t working and I can’t think of anything other than almost being eaten by a very hungry bear, that are appropriate for this blog post.
I was really excited to meet Justin, because knowing so much about Kate, I knew he would be so sweet and absolutely hilarious, and he was, even though he doesn’t like having his picture taken 😉 Jana and I are super excited to be shooting their spring wedding at the Fontainebleu Inn next year! Enjoy some of these AMAZING fall colors and views <3
